Funimation subscribers have a lot of comedy anime to choose from, and these are the funniest shows on the platform.
After acquiring Crunchyroll as a subsidiary in 2021, Funimation is undoubtedly the most popular anime streaming service in the United States. Funimation subscribers get access to a large archive of shows, both old and new, and the comedy genre is no exception.
Funimation is a great place to go if you're looking for a good chuckle. There are dozens upon dozens of excellent comedies available on the site, so picking the best of the bunch is no easy task. Regardless, here are some of Funimation's best comedic anime.
Funimation's Best Currently Airing Comedy Anime
Although the current season isn't overflowing with humorous anime, there are a few standouts. Funimation has the following comedic anime for Winter 2022:
Police In A Pod
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
Hakozume: Kouban Joshi no Gyakushuu | 6+ |
The sensation of being a cop in a pod is unexpected. On the one hand, the series is over-the-top and usually ludicrous; on the other hand, the anime occasionally delves into some very real area, which it handles admirably. As a result, Police in a Pod suffers from tonal whiplash, albeit it is amusing when it concentrates on being funny. It also doesn't pull any punches when it wants to be serious.
Seiko Fuji is a strong contender for the season's funniest character. She's jaded but sympathetic, an imperfect role model for Mai Kawai's inexperience.

The Genius Prince's Guide To Raising A Nation Out Of Debt
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu | 5+ |
The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt tells the storey of a Prince who wants to sell his Kingdom up the river so he can enjoy a life free of obligation. Wein Salema Arbalest's plots always backfire, making him more popular among the residents of the Kingdom of Natra.
The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt doesn't go all apart "evil" with its protagonist, but Wein still manages to create a fascinating character who stands out from the usual fantasy anime protagonists. The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt is constantly amusing, if not always laugh-out-loud funny.
My Dress-Up Darling
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru | 5+ |
My Dress-Up Darling is a romantic comedy that takes the genre's cliches and proves they can work as long as they are performed correctly. It is one of Winter 2022's greatest new anime. Wakana Gojou is a loner with no friends, having been traumatised by a childhood experience in which he was chastised for his interest in hina dolls. Marin Kitagawa, on the other hand, is regarded as the school's idol. While these two have never met before, they form a friendship after the cosplay-obsessed Kitagawa discovers that Gojou can make her clothes.
The conversations between Gojou and Kitagawa are frequently lovely, vibrant, and entertaining; My Dress-Up Darling isn't always laugh-out-loud funny, but it knows how to make its viewers grin.
Best Non-Airing Comedy Anime On Funimation
While there aren't many Winter 2022 comedies on Funimation right now, the streaming service has plenty of finished series that showcase the genre at its best. Stream these funny comedy anime on Funimation if you're looking for a good laugh:
Baka & Test - Summon the Beasts
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu | 26 |
It's all about fools in Baka & Test. The anime is set in a high school where the worst pupils are grouped together in one class and then discriminated against them at every opportunity. Class F is chock-full of anime's most beloved jerks, folks who may not excel on examinations but at least have good intentions.
Baka & Test's humour is largely over-the-top slapstick, which reflects the anime's concept; nonetheless, the anime does it effectively. This show is not for everyone, but it will be amusing to a large number of individuals.

Barakamon
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
Barakamon | 12 |
Barakamon is a cheerful, delightful, and, most importantly, hilariously funny slice-of-life anime about a young calligrapher who reacts poorly to a piece of criticism and is transported to an island as punishment. Seishuu Handa wishes to be left alone by the island's residents, but his request is unfulfilled as the calligrapher accidentally becomes immersed in the setting's culture.
Barakamon is a hilarious comedy about a fish out of water situation. With each new amusing incident, Seishuu develops into a fantastic feel-good moment.
Daily Lives Of High School Boys
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou | 12 |
Hinamatsuri
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
Hinamatsuri | 12 |
Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen | 24 |
Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya of the student council are secretly in love, but they are afraid to make the first move for fear of giving the other person power over them. As a result, the two engage in a battle for supremacy while becoming closer to one another.
When the focus is entirely on the characters striving to outdo each other in the first few episodes, Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War is at its funniest. The anime eventually focuses on the romantic element, which it does wonderfully. Even when "love" triumphs over "war," Kaguya-Sama retains his wit.
YuruYuri: Happy Go Lily
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
YuruYuri | 24 |
YuruYuri is the traditional "cute girls doing cute things" anime, yet the show isn't afraid to muddy the borders between what counts as "cute." Because this is a shoujo-ai anime, anticipate a lot of winks and hints to prospective romances between the characters (although they never actually take that step).
More significantly, YuruYuri is amusing, especially as the anime continues to introduce new characters to compliment the four main characters. The first two seasons are only available on Funimation, although they are entertaining to watch.
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
Japanese Title | Number of episodes |
---|---|
Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon | 25 |
