12 Manga Series You won't Believe Are Still Ongoing.

 Manga

It's hard to imagine, but Attack on Titan is finally over after twelve years. Although the fans is divided on it, it finished in a relatively pleasing manner. Because the anime won't be finished until next year, the directors will have plenty of time to address any issues. However, this could result in yet another outcry.

Even though this is a historic occasion, it's still amazing that there have been longer-running manga series before Attack on Titan. Some of them, in fact, have been going on since the 1980s. To put things in perspective, let's take a look at some of the most popular choices.

1. Detective Conan

Detective Conan

Detective Conan began as a manga in 1994 and has 1,069 chapters to date. In twenty-seven years, the comic has gone through ninety-nine volumes. This isn't even taking into account the anime, which recently hit the 1,000-episode mark. It should be mentioned that this detective series is known in North America as Case Closed. The anime has only been localised for a little over a hundred episodes, but the manga is still going strong.

2. One Piece

One Piece anime series

One Piece began as a manga in 1997 and now has a total of 1,010 chapters. In twenty-four years, that's a total of 98 bound volumes. The anime series began in 1999 and contains a total of 960 episodes. Eiichiro Oda, the manga's writer, has hinted to the manga's conclusion on multiple occasions. However, it's similar to Hideo Kojima's declaration that he wouldn't direct another Metal Gear game after each new release. The point is that One Piece might last forever.

3. Super Mario-Kun

Super Mario-Kun

Super Mario-Kun began as a manga in 1991 and has since grown to 56 volumes. Each arc is based on a different game. Luigi's Mansion 3 and Super Mario Odyssey adaptations, for example, were the last two big arcs in 2020. Viz revealed last year that, after 30 years of Japanese exclusivity, they will be bringing over a chosen collection of issues in a limited run. Although these comics are more risqué than one might expect based on the ostensibly family-friendly plumber, the reason they never came over remains a mystery.

4. Pokemon Adventures

Pokemon Adventures

Pokemon Adventures began as a manga in 1997 and has already grown to 58 volumes. Every arc of the manga follows a new group of heroes, each based on the start of a new Pokemon generation in the games. The first arc tracked the exploits of Red, Blue, and Green, whose names are derived from the initial games. The next arc, for example, follows Gold and Silver. In comparison to both the games and the anime, the manga is darker in portions.

5. Jojo's Bizzare Adventure

Jojo's Bizzare Adventure

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure began as a manga in 1987 and has now grown to a total of 129 volumes. Despite the fact that the manga has been running for 34 years, it has been divided into various arcs and characters.

There are currently eight, with the most recent, JoJolion, beginning in 2011 and possibly coming to an end after ten years of publication. Part 6 of the anime, Stone Ocean, has just been revealed as being adapted.

6. Golgo 13

Golgo 13

Golgo 13 began as a manga in 1968 and now has a total of 639 chapters. With 53 years and 200 published volumes, it is Japan's second-longest manga of all time. Because it is about an assassin, it appears to be the ideal setting for a comic. There will always be a new job for hired guns, just as there will always be a new task for the video game counterpart, Agent 47 from the Hitman franchise. However, 53 years does seem like an eternity.

7. Crayon Shin-chan

Crayon Shin-chan

Crayon Shin-chan began as a manga in 1990 and has since grown to 58 volumes. However, there is a difference between the mangas because the initial run finished in 2010, but it was reissued as New Crayon Shin-chan in the same year. It never actually ended then, just like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. This series is also global popularity, as it appears that children's pranks in an adult environment may be enjoyed in any language.

8. Berserk

Berserk

Berserk started as a manga in 1989 and currently has 363 chapters. That is a span of 32 years with 40 published volumes. There have been several anime series and movie adaptations of the original work, spaced out to give the manga room to breathe. In this way, the manga is easier to pick up without having to worry about figuring out which adaptation belongs to which arc in the comic.

9. Baki the Grappler

Baki the Gappler

Baki the Grappler began as a manga in 1991 and has since grown to 137 volumes. It's another example, like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, where the series has been divided into designated arcs throughout the course of its 30 years.

There are currently five parts, and there have been various anime adaptations. The most recent is set to premiere on Netflix later this year. Consider it a more intense version of Dragon Ball.

10. Duel masters

Duel masters

Duel Masters began as a manga in 1999 and has since grown to 62 volumes. Many saw it as a Yu-Gi-Oh card collecting clone and a Pokemon monster collecting clone, but it has a sizable audience. It must have been around for 22 years. It is also divided into multiple segments, with the most recent arc, Dual Masters King, beginning in 2020. The initial anime series ran from 2002 to 2006, although there have been several more adaptations since then.

11. Blue Period

Blue period

Most people think of Yatora Yaguchi as a delinquent, yet he's actually a good guy. He receives good grades and has a large group of friends, but he is dissatisfied with his monotonous life. He begins to pursue art after being inspired by a large, gorgeous picture by an upperclassman. However, as someone who has always been successful without putting in a lot of effort, he is astounded at the amount of effort required to become a master of the arts. He suffers when comparing his work to that of his classmates, but he perseveres because he has discovered a hobby in which he is truly passionate.

While the animation in Blue Period isn't very impressive, the message it delivers will resonate with anyone who enjoys creative endeavours. Julia Lee (Julia Lee)

12. Fruits Basket

Fruits Basket

Fruits Basket entices viewers with the promise of a sweet storey about a family who transforms into animals when hugged, only to be completely disarmed by a slew of generational grief. All of this comes to a head in the final season, as brave orphan Tohru Honda attempts to break the curse that binds the Sohma family to dictatorial family patriarch Akito. But, because this is Fruits Basket, everyone, including Akito, has experienced trauma. When it comes to Akito, the heartbreaking final season of Fruits Basket demonstrates that not everything is as it seems. Everyone experiences a broad emotional catharsis when the big moment occurs.
